About The Department

Introducing geography subject for arts students is that Raigad district is an important part of Arabian sea coast which is full of natural resources and many types of business are based on nature.The main motive behind this theme is to modernize these traditional nature-based businesses Also, the motivation is awakened in the students under the subject of geography to preserve the natural resource wealth and achieve its development.

Aims & Objectives

To render knowledge of physical geography and its role in understanding communities, culture, economics and environment.
To imbibe knowledge of rural and agricultural geography and also understand its role in nation building.
To cultivate sense of awareness among youth about environmental conservation and loss of Biodiversity.
To develop understanding of students about recent trends and tools in geography such as GIS, GPS etc.

Action Plan

To arrange workshop and Seminars on topic like GIS, GPS, SPSS etc.
To arrange field visits for students.
To nurture environmental conservation values by participating in tree plantation, campus cleanliness activities etc.
To organize guest lectures and short term courses on current topics and research methodologies.
To promote importance of agriculture by awareness on Best Agricultural practices in nearby areas.
